Pregnancy Protocol

Protocol for pregnancy.

Protocol duration: 12 weeks

Everyone has advice, but nobody has a concrete answer: how much you really need to eat, which foods to choose when the nausea won't go away, how to sleep when heartburn gives you no peace. And if your iron or vitamin D is also low, your thyroid is out of range or gestational diabetes appears, the confusion only grows.

Pregnancy doesn't call for eating twice as much, but for a different composition: more protein, iron, folate, iodine and omega 3 fatty acids, along with managing fluid retention, constipation, anaemia, back pain and the symptoms typical of each trimester.

That is why the protocol is built around your week of pregnancy, lab results and diagnosis.

First pillar: medicine

Your lab results are followed
by the whole council.

In pregnancy you hear ten different pieces of advice about the same thing: that you mustn't have coffee and that one is fine, that you should eat for two and that you should watch how much you eat, that iron is a must and that you don't need it. Advice comes from family, forums and acquaintances, and your gynaecologist has no time for all your questions, because check-ups last 10-15 minutes.

That's why our protocol is made by a council: a doctor analyses your results and therapy, a biochemist follows how the values move from one check-up to the next, and a dietitian and a master of nutrition turn that into meal plans that fit your baby's needs and yours. The app logs your appetite, energy, fluid retention and symptoms every day, and every 2 weeks the team adjusts the protocol accordingly.

Internal statistics: one in three patients stays with us through three turning points in life: losing weight before the wedding, eating during pregnancy and getting back in shape after giving birth.

Second pillar: dietetics

No two pregnancies are the same.
Neither can the diet be.

Picture a blank sheet. That's what your program looks like on the day it's made. Then the team sits down and, based on your history, lab results and goals, food by food, meal by meal, method by method, puts together a protocol that leaves nothing to chance.

A food is too expensive? You mark it and we don't use it. Don't like cauliflower? It's not on your menu. Don't want exotic ingredients? We skip them. Something makes you nauseous? Just say so. Our focus is sustainability in real life, not theoretical perfection.

Internal statistics: 94 out of 100 Atika clients reach their monthly goal without giving up on the plan.

Three cycles
Every24h

You log symptoms and meals in the app. The team sees every entry.

Every7days

A check-in on symptoms and intake. If something isn't working, we change it.

Every14days

Seven new menus, matched to your week of pregnancy.

Third pillar: psychology

We don't tell you to reduce stress.
We teach you how.

Pregnancy also brings what is talked about less: anxiety before every check-up, waking up at three in the morning, mood swings and days when food fixes everything. None of it means you're doing something wrong, but it is something you can influence.

So along with the menu you get the tools for it. Breathing exercises calm the body when anxiety rises. Logging stress reveals what causes it. A gratitude journal lifts your mood before sleep. A short walk breaks up a day that started badly. Moments for yourself bring back the feeling of control. And when food is used to calm down, we work on it without guilt and without bans.

Internal statistics: pregnant women who do the daily challenges report fewer sleep problems.

Methodology

How we work, trimester by trimester.

First trimester. The most common symptoms are nausea, vomiting and food aversion, so meal size, temperature and timing are adjusted, with enough fluids and folate. The goal is for intake to be sufficient even when appetite isn't, because this is when the foundations of development are laid.

Second trimester. Appetite usually returns, so we work on composition: enough protein, iron, calcium, iodine and omega 3, in line with your lab results and the supplements your doctor prescribed. Weight is monitored too, following your gynaecologist's recommendations.

Third trimester. Heartburn, constipation, swelling and less room for bigger meals are common, so the plan adapts to that. At the same time we prepare for the period after birth and, if you plan to breastfeed, a diet that supports it.

Fifteen years without marketing. Our patients do the talking.

If Atika is known for anything, it's directness and honesty. That's why as many as 30% of introductory consultations end with us declining to work together. If your goal isn't in our domain, we refer you to someone else. If what you want isn't achievable from a medical standpoint, we explain what is. Our way of working doesn't fit what you want? We tell you openly. Neither of us wants to part ways unhappy.

So we ask you to have a free consultation before you buy, to find out whether we're a good match.

Frequently asked questions

The shortest possible protocol is 8 weeks, and 12 is recommended.

Any time, in any trimester. In our experience, the best time is when morning sickness eases, because at that stage many pregnant women can hardly eat anything, which makes it harder to set up a plan that is actually followed.

Our focus is a healthy, varied diet that covers the needs of mum and baby. Patients who used to eat unhealthily and carry more excess weight most often lose weight spontaneously just by switching to a healthier diet.

We need lab results, but most pregnant women already have them, because regular gynaecological check-ups require them anyway. We use those results, and if something is missing, we tell you what to ask for at your next check-up.

No. Nutrition therapy, anti-stress techniques, gut microbiome health and physical activity optimize the whole body, making it stronger and more functional, acting strategically on imbalances, inflammation and hormones. Still, we are strongly against charlatan promises and claims that something cures every disease and changes medicine.

No. Atika protocols are for people who already have a diagnosis, lab results and therapy from their doctor, and who don't want to get lost in a sea of information online, but to save time, money and energy by having someone experienced choose the best direction for them. We don't make diagnoses and we don't alter therapies.

It doesn't. With online exercise there's no way to supervise your movements, and we don't want anyone to get injured. If you want to exercise, we recommend finding someone to work with in person.
